Please use caution when sending your passwords to services. Post your info into a status window instead. There are several methods of identification to prevent "impersonators" from getting your passwords.
* /msg chanserv identify (#channel) (password)
* /chanserv identify (#channel) (password)
* /identify (#channel) (password)
Depending on what IRC client you use (some common clients include mIRC, BitchX, ircII, PIRCH, scrollZ), this is going to vary slightly. Some clients will allow you to type /nickserv directly with no problems, others will require you to type /quote nickserv, and finally others require /raw nickserv. Find out which one works on your client. Visiting the IRC client's website will be the first place to look.

How to extract a tar file with winrar?
So you have this "tar" file that you have just aquired and you're not really sure how to "get" the file(s) out of this tar into a readable/watchable format.
Well this little tutorial will show you how to properly extract the file and prepare it so that you may be able to burn it to a DVD or CD-R.
Tools Needed/installed:
*Winrar, newest is always the best.
*Suggested 2-5gigs of free space. IE, if you have a file that's 2 gigs, you'll want to have at least 4-6 gigs free. This also depends on your virtual memory.
*Your favorite media player. I suggest VLC media player
Ok, So I have aquired a movie to preview for the purpose of this tutorial. As you can see I have "Clerks 2" Yes, by the time you read this I have already watched, and deleted the movie.

(Figure 1.1)
Now like I said I'll be working from my "D" drive. Below in figure 1.2 it shows that I have 10.5gigs free on a "30gig" partition. Now this is overkill, but I just cleaned this partition up so its a perfect space to be downloading and extracting large files too.

(Figure 1.2)
Ok, so Lets take our tar file and open it up by double clicking on it. It *should* open it up with winrar as you should have it already installed. You should see something very simular to what's in figure 1.3.

(Figure 1.3)
If so, lets continue. If not, then you're lost and you need to stop smoking crack and pay attention. Now lets go ahead and double click the folder within winrar and you should see a sample folder, and then a bunch of files. *Note: Somtimes you'll see a CD1 & CD2 folder which when you open them up they will have the same type of files which you see here in figure 1.4.

(Figure 1.4)
Now at this point you can create a CD1 & CD2 folder or create a single directory. What we are really trying to do here is duplicate the directoy structure we have in the tar file. (makes things easy). In this instance I'll create a single folder in the same location the .tar file is found. I'm going to name it Clerks2. (D:\BURN\Files\Clerks2). See figure 1.5 below.

(Figure 1.5)
Once you have created your folders you'll start transfering the individual files from the tar into your folder. I genually transfer 10-20 files at a time as you may run into CRC errors if you start transfering more files at a time.. See figure 1.6 below for an example.
Continue transfering ALL of the files into the folder, I'd even double check to make sure you have ALL the files from the tar copied to your hard drive as you'll run into an error when extracting if you have not. Now lets say if we had a CD1 and CD2 folders. I'd transfer ALL the files from CD1 in the tar file to CD1 on my hard drive. Then copy all files from CD2 from tar into the CD2 folder on your hard drive. Do this again if there is a CD3, CD4 etc. There should be nore more than CD3 in some cases.

(Figure 1.6)
Once all your files have been copied you'll want to find the file that has .r00, or r01. In my case it's .r00. Right click this file and choose "extract here". See figure 1.7 below for an example.

(Figure 1.7)
Sometimes you'll get an error in winrar, other times it will just extract with no probs. I'm not going to explain each issue, but sometimes its a CRC error, other times its an error i can't even explain what it is. As long as your file is extrated it should play/be usable with no probs. Now extracting the file may take 5min, or may take 25min. This all depends on your PC and the specs of it and how big the file is. Just be patient and soon enough you'll have your file. (Now I did get an error which i have never gotton before, yet my movie still plays. see error)
Ok, so once the file is all extracted you should see an .avi file, .mpg etc. Chooce you're favorite movie player and open it up. It should play if you have all the codecs installed etc. If not, then go download the codecs.
For your media player I suggest VLC player as it's a highly portable multimedia player for various audio and video formats (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, mp3, ogg, ...) as well as DVDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols. But you may use any "media player" you'd like. Right click the .avi/mpg file and play it.
From here you're also able to burn the movie onto any media you choose. DVD, CD-R etc.. This is not a how-to burn a movie, but the file is ready to burn.
